My Mother’s Garden

Do you ever feel like there times when emotions, which not our own, impact us anyway? I suppose there is a universality to our feelings but sometimes seeing someone we deeply care about exhibiting profound joy or deep sorrow, sneaks the same emotions into our hearts. This happens both at a surface level and when we allow ourselves, at a deeper level. Is it a mere psychological ripple effect? Or is it the love we experience for them?

Hello Readers,

Its been over a year since I published here. And to be honest with you, I had lost faith along the way. Words on the internet are like feathers in the wind. On days, they travel great distances, make people smile along the way and on some days, they just slowly descend down to the earth as soon as their journey begins.

If I were to tell you one good thing, it would be that I did write all this while. I even recently started an Instagram page and the series of images above is my recent post there. It is something I deeply connected with as I wrote it and perhaps it is because of the people in it. Whatever it may be, it is now another feather in the wind and I hope you’ll look at it kindly.

  1. Hi Janani,
    Hope you are doing well!!
Really loved this article as I could connect with this. While I am not interested in gardening, my MIL loves it! When a plant bears a vegetable or fruit I can see how excited she is and we discuss what can be cooked with it.
Keep writing such great stuff!! You are a talented writer who can maintain a smooth flow in the narrative that reading it becomes so easy and enjoyable!

    1. Hi Surela, thank you so much for your kind words. Oh it’s great fun just to be a spectator and I don’t think I have the patience to be in my mother’s shoes. I’m really glad you enjoyed it
